Lauterbrunnen sits on the floor of a steep glacial valley, with waterfalls dropping from the cliffs on both sides. The Trümmelbach falls run inside the rock and have their own entry; the Staubbach falls are free to see from the village.
From the valley, a cableway climbs towards Mürren and the Schilthorn, and a railway climbs to Wengen and on towards the Jungfrau region, each run by its own company. Paragliding and tours from Interlaken and Zurich round out the options compared here.

About 297 metres — the local tourist board calls it the highest free-falling waterfall in Switzerland. You can see it from the village.
Ten waterfalls inside the mountain, reached by a tunnel lift, carrying up to 20,000 litres a second from the glaciers of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.
Daily from early April to early November (9 November in 2026): 9:00–17:00 in April–June and September–November, 8:30–18:00 in July and August. Adults from CHF 18, children 6–15 from CHF 8.
By cableway from Stechelberg. With a gradient of 159.4%, the operator calls it the steepest cableway in the world; it continues up to the Schilthorn.
